The Future of Freight Forwarding

Updated: Jun 27, 2023

Freight Forwarding is a complex competitive industry. The complexity of the industry stems in part from the numerous activities and services the Freight Forwarder provides to achieve the objective of moving goods on behalf of a shipper. In addition, as in many industries, technology is changing the future of freight forwarders.

Technology driven companies such as Flexport and Freightub are leveraging technology to introduce more efficiency and modern customer experience (Rielly, n.d.). As customer expectations evolve; customers are now interested in on-demand access to information about shipping rates, shipments, locations, and delivery; instant rate access, booking and real time visibility into the real-time progress of cargo is becoming the norm.

Implementing technology driven capabilities that satisfy new customers' demand will be a catalyst for Freight Specialist’s success in the industry.
